Adding and Subtracting Mixed Fractions
This lesson is on adding and subtracting mixed fractions (where there is a combination of a whole number and a fraction). If you have not watched the other fractions videos (simplifying reg and improper fractions, adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators) then you should do so before you watch this lesson. It is important for students to organize their answers as much as possible when working with mixed fractions because there are so many steps to do. Please remind them to use and answer line and to remember their whole numbers last. The video for adding and subtracting mixed fractions is provided below and can be viewed by clicking on the play button. You can access practice problems by clicking on and following the link given below the video. At the bottom of this page I have provided some word problems to apply the skill that students will need to know how to complete.
