Filling in Numerators and Denominators for Equivalent Fractions
Students may be given a fraction and its equivalent fraction. If the numerator or denominator is missing from one of the equivalent fractions, students will be asked to fill in the information. 1. The pizza parlor made a mistake and divided one pizza into fourths and the other into twelfths. All the kids want 1/4 of a pizza. How many slices should they get from the pizza that is divided into twelfths?
2. Meg and I are eating the candy bars mom gave us. We want to eat the same amount, but my bar is broken into ten pieces and Meg's is broken into twenty pieces. They are the same size and I have eaten 4 pieces. How many pieces should Meg eat so that she has eaten the same amount of her candy bar that I have?
3. Danny has read the same fraction of books as Vincent. Vincent has read 2/5 of his collection of books. If Danny has read 12 books, how many books does Danny have in all?
