Mean, Median, Mode, and Range
This lesson covers finding mean, median, mode, and range for a given set of numbers. I always tell the students to put the numbers in order from least to greatest first. That is very important so they don't forget. I have them think of the following phrases or words to help them remember what to do for each term:
Mean: "That Mean Old Math Teacher Wants to Give Me An Average!"
Mode: MOST OFTEN
Median: MIDDLE
Range: "A mountain range has highs and lows, so we take the high minus the lows."
Mean: "That Mean Old Math Teacher Wants to Give Me An Average!"
Mode: MOST OFTEN
Median: MIDDLE
Range: "A mountain range has highs and lows, so we take the high minus the lows."
